PNG and JPG are raster image formats, meaning the image consists of rows of pixels, so it has a specific resolution. PNG uses lossless compression while JPG uses stronger compression at the cost of image quality. PNG also supports transparency (JPG does not), so the background behind the logo can be transparent instead of a solid color.
SVG on the other hand is a vector image format, meaning that the image is constructed out of mathematical shapes instead of pixels with a fixed resolution. This means it can be sized and edited without any loss of quality.
